Australia Mens T20 world cup

Ben Stokes gets England over the final hurdle. He really took the pressure put on him and delivered the goods. After Pakistan all but collapsed England held their nerve. Babar Azam showed his class and congratulated England on the well-fought victory. Sam Curran was definitely Man of the Match. Jos Butler said on BBC Radio 5 Live "I am immensely proud. It hasn't sunk in at all obviously. What an unbelievable effort from everyone to win the game. I am a bit speechless, to be honest."

Exciting Semis At T20 Cricket World Cup

New Zealand lost by the tiniest of margins in their semi-final. Pakistan secured their palace in the semi-final by 7 wickets. England beat India comfortably. They actually won by 10 runs with a staggering 24 balls left. Alex Hales and Jos Butler scored 86 and 80 runs, respectively.

The final is due to take place on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. I hope the weather doesn't stop this match from going ahead. According to the rules of the competition, if the match or a Super-Over can't be played, then the teams are declared joint winners. There is a contingency plan to have it on another day but the organizers prefer it to be completed on Sunday. Let's hope the weather prediction is wrong.

Australia Crash Out On Home Turf

England beating Sri Lanka means Australia will not be moving forward in this competition. Australia has not done enough to progress in this home competition. They may be level on points but Australia's inferior net rate means that England progress to the next round.

After a shaky start, let's hope this victory over Ireland gives Australia the hope and confidence to proceed in this T20 competition. Ireland's Lorcan Tucker had a great inning, scoring 71 runs, which could help England in the long run. With the net-run rate out of the window, it's important for Australia to keep on winning. Captain Aaron Finch is hopeful. Let's hope his hamstring injury isn't too serious.

Now, who would have thought that climate change would impact this T20 World Cup? The wet weather seems to have beaten both Australia and England. Ireland's match against Afghanistan was also abandoned it's time for Australia to regroup and rethink. Hopefully, we will defeat Ireland and retain some chance of continuing in this competition.

This T20 World Cup is full of surprises. Who would have thought England would be defeated by Ireland? In this fast-paced competition, who knows what will happen in the moment? At least Australia has recovered some pride by defeating Sri Lanka by 7 wickets. Hopefully, this will give Australia a psychological advantage when they face England later on.

Australia is reeling from a shocking defeat. New Zealand beat the Aussies by 89 runs. After winning the toss and deciding to let the Black Caps bat, it now seems like a mistake as they put 3-200 on the board. Australia could not seem to catch up, amassing a mere 111 runs. Commentator Ian Smith was right. This was "a good old-fashioned hiding". They have to do some serious digging if they are to remain in the competition. We have to face an in-form England after they play Sri Lanka.

There will be an exciting period of sporting action in the second half of 2022. One of the most exciting competitions that will be staged between now and the end of the year comes in the form of the T20 World Cup.

This is the eighth time that the World Cup has been held, and Australia will be looking to win a second straight title and become the joint-most successful nation in T20 World Cup history. They have home advantages, but we all know that cricket fans love to travel and take in the tournaments.

What Is The T20 World Cup?

The T20 World Cup is one of the main competitions for international teams in the world of cricket. Originally, the ICC wanted to hold the competition every two years. It is one of the shortest forms of the game, with each team having 20 overs to score the highest number of runs. Players are out if they are bowled out or are caught by the opposing team after striking the ball.

Teams will first need to navigate the group stages before the Super 12s and semi-finals are staged to leave just two teams remaining in contention. The final is the game that all players will be hoping to play in this year, but only one team can be crowned World Cup champions for 2022.

Where Is The World Cup Being Held?

For the first time ever, the T20 World Cup will be held in Australia. The tournament in 2020 was meant to be held in the country before it was delayed due to COVID-19.

It was then swapped to take place in the UAE and Oman last year due to ongoing travel restrictions, which meant the 2022 event will be staged in Australia. It will be the first of two World Cups to be held in Australia in the next ten years, with the 2028 World Cup also being held in Australia, as well as New Zealand.

T20 Cricket World Cup Venues

It was announced in November 2021, that seven venues will be used to host the 2022 T20 World Cup. The final will be played at the prestigious Melbourne Cricket Ground, which boasts a potential capacity of over 100,000 fans.

Adelaide will also host games at the Adelaide Oval, while The Gabba and Kardinia Park will also be used as venues in Brisbane and Geelong, respectively. The Bellerive Oval in Hobart will also host fixtures throughout the tournament. The final two announced venues for games at this year’s World Cup are Perth Stadium and Sydney Cricket Ground.

T20 World Cup Groups

The World Cup gets underway on October 16, as eight teams compete across two groups for their place in the Super 12. Namibia, Sri Lanka, the UAE and the Netherlands make up Group A. Meanwhile, the teams in Group B are Ireland, Scotland, Zimbabwe and the West Indies. Only the top two teams from each group will make it through to the Super 12, where the top-ranked seeds enter.

Once again, there are two groups. Group 1 looks the most interesting, with England, New Zealand, and Australia likely to be vying for the top spot. Afghanistan is the only other determined side in the group at present, while the winners from Group A and runners-up from Group B will also be involved. Group 2 features India, who will be the clear favourites to progress as group winners.

They were drawn alongside Bangladesh, Pakistan, and South Africa. Meanwhile, the teams that finish at the top of Group B and as the runner-up in Group A will join Group 2. Only the top two teams from each group will progress through to the semi-finals, with the winning nations then playing in the World Cup final at Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 13.

Previous Winners Of T20 World Cup

This is only the eighth edition of the T20 World Cup. Six nations have been crowned champions, with the only team to have won on two separate occasions being the West Indies, who have crowned champions in both 2012 and 2016.

Australia is the most recent champion, as they beat New Zealand by eight wickets in 2021 final. Sri Lanka, England, Pakistan, and India are the only other nations to have won the T20 World Cup.

Leading Contenders

This is looking likely to be one of the most exciting T20 World Cups in recent memory. Australia is likely to be one of the favourites to win the competition, as they come into this year’s event as the reigning champions and will also have home advantage. However, they come into the competition this year with something to prove, as they recently lost their first T20 series since winning the World Cup, going down 2-1 against India after three tests.

India could have an excellent chance themselves. However, it has been a long time since their only previous success at the World Cup, as they won the very first edition of the competition back in 2007. But, they have an excellent T20I record, having won six of the seven series matches that they have played.

New Zealand and England should also have leading chances at winning the World Cup this year, but both will face big tests, having been drawn alongside Australia in the Super 12. England built confidence ahead of the start of the World Cup with a 67-run victory over Pakistan to win their best of seven series.

Influential Players To Watch

In this form of the game, we know it's all about the performance on the day. Which players are going to shine?

David Warner-Australia

With the home crowd behind him, David Warner is likely to score a lot of runs. He is in great form and his strength favours the large stadiums of Australia.

Babar Azam-Pakistan

He is the person who has scored more runs than Warner. His discipline and focus could give Pakistan the edge.

Jos Buttler-England

His ability to knock out the runs at T20 is a great delight to the Rajasthan Royals. This English hero may not be on top form due to injury but he comes up trumps in Australia.

Hardik Pandya -India

Adam Gilchrist has said we should watch out for Indian all-rounder Pandya. If it's tenacity this player has it. He could make the difference. Plus he is entertaining to watch.

Betting Markets

Betting on the T20 World Cup will likely be extremely popular throughout the competition. Bettors will be able to put wagers on the nation that they believe will win the competition outright, while there will also be the opportunity to bet on each individual match throughout the competition. Check the online sportsbooks for odds. Wagers can be placed on the match result, over/under runs, and method of the first wicket.
