Martingale is perhaps the most popular strategy out there. It’s easy to play through and follows a basic sequence of bets and events. For starters, it’s important to understand that the Martingale system only works on 1:1 bets. In roulette, this is usually the outside bet.
So, using the example of Outside Bets, the strategy is as follows. You pick a base unit, let’s say $1. Then, you double your win after every loss and stick to the base unit after every win. So, if you bet $1 and lose, you bet $2. If you bet that and lose, you bet $4.
Once you return to profitability, you keep betting $1. Why not bet $2 from the start or even $5? Well, most betting tables have a limit of $500-$2,000. What this means is that if you hit around ten losses in success, you may not be able to double to recover losses.
But hold on, is that a real possibility? Yes, it is. These strategies have been tested and in 4 out 5 times when Martingale (or most other strategies are played) in 1,000 simulations (i.e. placing 1,000 bets), they fail – meaning you lose your money.
With this said, Martingale is an exceptional strategy that is novice-friendly and that makes it very simple for you to adapt to any type of play. Starting small is usually better (even if you have the money) as successful losses won’t restrict you out of the table limit soon – or at least that’s what players hope for.
Fibonacci is a bit different strategy in the sense that it doesn’t follow the same cut-and-dry logic. Well, it has a logic and it’s based on the namesake Fibonacci sequence. Basically, you bet according to the following numbers:
1 – 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 – 8 – 13 – 21 – 34 – 55 – 89 – 144 – 233 – 377 – 610 – 987
Basically, the strategy works in a way where if you bet and lose you move one number up the sequence. If you bet and lose again, you put together the sum of the previous bets. So, if you bet and lose on $1, you bet $1 once again. If you bet and lose on that, you now put together $1+1 and bet $2. If you win, you go back to $1 but if you lose, you put together 1+2 and move to 3, and so on.
Hold on, does this work any better than Martingale? It gives you the exact same statistical probability of succeeding. The system is believed to be very safe in general, but the longer you play, the more likely it becomes the successive wins will end up breaking up the betting limit and you might end up in a loss.
The good news is that it happens very slowly and over time. Once again, though, you must be scrupulous about the bets you place here. You must bet on even-money bets only. Once again, we will give you an example of roulette. Outside bets have an almost 50% chance of winning—or they come very close at least. Sure, the house edge is still there, but it’s minimized.
Betting systems are great – they help you win real money at an online casino or, at the very least, they make sure that you do not end up charging into huge losses either. The truth is that betting systems do truly help, but you need to exert a fair amount of game understanding.
There is always a moment when you may have hit a huge advantage (meaning you have generated a tidy sum on top of your base bankroll) and then you feel disciplined to stop your session. After all, why end now? Well, there is no telling which way a session will go. Sometimes, it really helps you win, but sometimes you may end up with a succession of bad bets.
